Editorial Policy: How Cyluna Content Is Made

Health content earns trust through process, not promises. This page documents exactly how every article and tool on Cyluna is written, sourced, updated and corrected, and who is accountable.

Who writes Cyluna

Every article and tool on this site is created by Kanika, the founder: a woman living with PCOS since her teens, and a technology professional who builds the calculators herself. She is not a doctor or nurse, and the site never claims otherwise. Articles are written from lived experience where relevant and researched against current guidance from recognised health authorities, with sources linked at the end of every article.

We do not use a fictional editorial team, invented reviewer credentials, or unattributed "our experts" language anywhere on the site. Where a claim exists, a named person owns it.

How articles are written

Each article follows the same process:

  1. Topic selection from real questions people ask about cycles, backed by our own search data and reader messages.
  2. Research against current patient guidance from the NHS, ACOG, Cleveland Clinic, NICHD and Planned Parenthood, with 2 to 4 primary sources cited per article.
  3. Writing in plain British English, with a Quick Answer at the top, and honest treatment of uncertainty: where evidence is weak or a symptom is ambiguous, the article says so.
  4. Safety review: every article names its red-flag symptoms and when to see a doctor. No article minimises emergency signs, and none offers diagnosis.
  5. Claims discipline: we never claim an article is "medically reviewed" unless a named, qualified reviewer has actually reviewed it. Where no reviewer is involved, we say the content is evidence-based and cite the evidence instead.

How calculators are built

Calculators use only established formulas (Naegele's rule, the luteal-phase-constant method, documented mucus staging), run entirely in your browser with no data transmission, and state their accuracy limits in plain terms. The full formulas, sources and limitations for every tool are documented on our methodology page.

How content is dated and updated

Corrections

If you find a factual error, an unclear claim, or a broken source, we want to fix it. Email hello@mycyluna.com with the page URL and the issue. Corrections are made within a few days, factual errors are corrected visibly, and the updated date on the page reflects the change. We do not silently rewrite substantive content.

What we will never do

Independence and funding

Cyluna is funded entirely by its founder. We carry no advertising, no sponsored posts and no affiliate links at this time. If that changes, every article will disclose it, and the privacy policy and this page will be updated before any monetisation goes live.
